Watershape University

This rigorous 16-hour program provides detailed instruction in fluid engineering for custom pools, spas, and other types of watershapes. Activities includes a detailed project worth 50%, and an online exam accounting for the remaining 50% of the passing score. ENG 2311 is a prerequisite for this program.

Learning Outcomes

  • Define the meaning and scope of advanced hydraulics, hydrology, and fluid dynamics design, including complex gravity-fed and water-in-transit systems.
  • Detail water-in-transit engineering including vanishing edges, slot-edges, gutters, and water features.
  • Demonstrate use of the WatershapeAdvisor® series of software worksheets, including surge basin design, gravity and drainage systems, channels, lazy rivers, level-bottom slot channels, and more.
  • Practice analyzing vanishing edge and slot-edge pool and spa combinations, as a class project.

Accreditation

  • Duration: 16 hours
  • IACET CEUs: 1.6
  • All students who complete the course and evaluation form receive a Certificate of Completion documenting 1.6 IACET CEUs even if they do not continue with the Certified Watershape Professional (CWP) certification.

Certifications

Watershape University’s ENGINEERING 4311: Essential Advanced Fluid Engineering Workshop builds on the ENGINEERING 2311 content with a focus on gravity systems, vanishing and slot-edge pools, weirs, etc. It pushes students wishing to master their fluid mechanics in all aspects of design.

ENGINEERING 4311: Essential Advanced Fluid Engineering Workshop supports the following certifications:

International Watershape Institute (IWI)
International Watershape Institute (IWI)
Certified Watershape Professional (CWP)
Certified Watershape Professional (CWP)

Licensing and CEUs

The Certified Watershape Professional (CWP) certification may be used for contractor licensing and required continuing education in certain jurisdictions. The CWP certification builds upon the CWF certification; therefore, all Certified Watershape Professionals (CWPs) are also CWFs which support licensing in the following jurisdictions:
