Overview
Certifications document a student’s progress through Watershape University (WU) and, ultimately, to the International Watershape Institute (IWI). Credentials can be obtained at multiple steps as the student progresses from a beginning student (“freshman”) to more advanced levels of training and expertise (“senior” and “post-graduate” levels). Credentials are acknowledged via wall certificates and digital badging that is verifiable at verify.watershape.org.
Certified Pool Shotcrete Inspector (CPSI)
The Certified Pool Shotcrete Inspector (CPSI) is a standard that validates a watershapers’ understanding and general knowledge of shotcrete placement for pool applications, while also acknowledging that the watershaper has the field experience to inspect pool projects during shotcrete placement for concrete watershapes.
This standard requires that the professional be a CWF and CWSS (in good standing), pass the CPSI professional exam and complete an experiential application.

Required WU certification: Certified Watershape Foreman (CWF)
- Complete WU Construction 2111: Essential Pool Construction (2.4 IACET CEUs)
- Pass the CWF Professional Exam ($200)
- To sign up for the exam: Submit a request through the Support Desk

Required WU certification: Certified Watershape Shotcrete Specialist (CWSS)
- Complete WU Construction 2241: Quality Shotcrete for Pools – Know It, Demand It (0.8 IACET CEUs)
- Pass the CWSS Professional Exam ($200)
- To sign up for the exam: Submit a request through the Support Desk
- Must also be an active CWF (Step 1)

Complete the CPSI application process
First, submit your project portfolio:
- Email a written application to michelle@watershape.org that includes
- At least 10 pool shotcrete placement projects
- Detailed descriptions of the projects
- The types of projects you were involved in
- Your role on the projects
- Note: These projects must be completed within the last five years
- At least 10 pool shotcrete placement projects
Pass the CPSI Online Exam:
- Once your submission is accepted, we will send you a link to complete an online exam
- The exam tests your ability to recognize quality shotcrete placement (shown through video)
- After passing the exam, you are eligible to earn the certification after payment.
