Instructors

Donald F. Gatzke, FAIA

Unlock the secrets of architectural styles with Don Gatzke, FAIA, an esteemed architect and educator with over 40 years of experience in the profession. Don’s impressive career spans practice in Seattle, Alabama, Louisiana, and Texas, and influential teaching roles at Tuskegee University, Tulane University, and the University of Texas at Arlington.

Don served as Dean of Architecture at Tulane University from 1997 to 2004 and as Dean of the School of Architecture at UT Arlington from 2004 to 2014. Though he retired from the UTA faculty at the end of 2019, Don continues to practice architecture and engage in multiple academic projects, including his role as a faculty member at Watershape University.

Recognized for his extraordinary contributions to the profession, Don received the prestigious Edward Romieniec Award from the Texas Society of Architects in 2014 for his visionary leadership in architectural education. In 2018, he was inducted into the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects, a testament to his impact on the field.

Michael Nantz, ICAA

Mike Nantz, the visionary principal and founder of Elite Concepts, Inc., is an acclaimed international design/build firm specializing in refined watershapes. He served as the University’s first Dean of Culture and is currently the Education Committee Chair.
