Learn how different concrete placement methods can affect waterproofing outcomes, and explore a range of solutions—from integral admixtures and penetrating sealers to topical systems and bond coats. Through guided discussion and real-world examples, students gain insight into the environmental conditions and surface preparation practices that determine whether an installation succeeds or fails. The course also includes evaluation of real project installations, giving participants the opportunity to analyze field conditions and apply best practices for creating reliable, long-lasting waterproofing systems.
Books will be provided for paid students.
What you will learn:
Discuss challenges of poured-in-place, wet mix and dry mix concrete placement as they relate to waterproofing.
Identify waterproofing challenges and solutions from integral admixtures and penetrating sealers to topical products and bond coats.
List environmental parameters and surface preparation specifications that will ensure success or guarantee failure if done incorrectly.
Evaluate actual installations with a project tour and discussion.

Trevor Foster, born and raised in Denver, Colorado received his BA in Business Management in 1993, and started his own flooring and waterproofing company shortly thereafter. Selling his company in 2002, he went to work for the largest decorative concrete contractor in the nation, running their premium flooring division. This is where the learning curve steepened with large, commercial projects.
In 2006, Miracote Products hired him as a Regional Sales Manager and Principal Trainer. He now is the Western Sales Manager and Principal Trainer. He enjoys hunting, fishing, and his family.

Certified Watershape Waterproofing Specialist
Even the most beautiful and well-designed watershape is a failure if it doesn’t reliably hold water. This certification indicates completion of WU’s essential waterproofing workshop, which examines all forms of commonly used waterproofing systems and products.
